Seunghan’s Basic Information

Seunghan was born in Tanhyeon-dong, Ilsanseo-gu, Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do, S. Korea. He graduated from the Department of Applied Music at Seoul Performing Arts High School (commonly known as SOPA). Additionally, he is known to have an older brother 5 years older.

Seunghan was a trainee under SM Entertainment for 2 years and a half before his debut with RIIZE. He allegedly received audition offers from various agencies during his 3rd year of middle school, but chose SM without a second thought.

He can play a bit of piano and guitar and said he also wants to learn bass guitar.

Seunghan’s Career 

On July 2, 2022, Seunghan was revealed as a member of SMROOKIES along with Shohei (now a member of trot boy group MYTRO) and Eunseok (now a member of RIIZE).

On September 4, 2023, Seunghan made his official debut with RIIZE via the single album “Get A Guitar”.

On November 2023, Seunghan was announced to be indefinitely halting all group activities due to controversial pictures and videos from his past that went viral online.

On October 11, 2024, it was announced that Seunghan would end his hiatus and return to RIIZE‘s promotions.

However, due to facing strong opposition from Korean fans, he ended up officially departing from the group on October 13, 2024.

In November of the same year, SM Entertainment announced that Seunghan is preparing for his debut as a solo artist. With this, the male idol is set to return in the second half of 2025.

Seunghan’s Controversies

In August 2023, various photos of Seunghan being intimate with a person suspected to be his ex-girlfriend started to surface, and there were even accusations of Seunghan bringing the alleged girlfriend, who was supposedly underage, to a motel. 

Following this, more accusations started to be raised against Seunghan, including some claiming that he was promiscuous and a “gold digger”. There were even allegations of the male idol forcing his ex-girlfriend to have an abortion, displaying tendencies of violence, and insulting Park Ji-hoon (former Wanna One).

The controversies of Seunghan also led to several HYBE idols being dragged into the mess.

However, only the intimate photos were confirmed to be real, leading to Seunghan apologizing for his past actions. Other allegations were never confirmed. 

Following these accusations, Seunghan halted his activities for 10 months, before SM Entertainment announced that he will be returning to RIIZE. 

This decision was met with intense reactions on the Korean side, as fans sent 1,000 wreaths to SM Entertainment demanding for Seunghan’s departure.

In the end, Seunghan officially left RIIZE on October 13, 2024.

On the other hand, an alleged classmate of Seunghan has since defended the male idol against the accusations.
